You are responsible for your healing.
One of the best things I've heard is this quote:
"You are not responsible for your pain, but you are responsible for your healing."
It was at that moment that I understood how important it is to be accountable for how your post-tragedy life plays out.
Usually, when you have to clean up a mess, it's because you've made it. However, sometimes other people come into our lives and create chaos, trauma, and turn our world upside down.
We have to recognize that if the person caused us the pain the first place, they most likely don't have it in them to heal us.
We also have to realize that we have the power to release the pain people bring into our lives, and harness it to heal ourselves and others.
Stop waiting for someone to come in and fix everything.
You do it. You find forgiveness. You learn to love yourself. You can't undo what they did, but you can live your life in such a way that people will never believe what you've been through.
