Sometimes we spend too much time agonizing over the mess instead of just cleaning it up.
So I’m on a flight to DC and I spill Italian salad dressing on my white Adidas. Yes, my WHITE Adidas sneakers. Anyone who loves shoes will tell you this is a very traumatic experience. However I noticed something in myself that immediately went into action. I was like a little robot using the water I had along with some napkins from Pappadeux to clean it up. Now my laces were dirty, but new laces can be purchased so I wasn’t concerned. But what I realized is that many people make a mess and then sit there in pain, regretful that they made the mess. The longer you let a mess sit, the longer it sticks. The same is true with tension, conflict, or frustration. Stop getting stuck in shock, and start fixing the mess you’ve made. It’s much easier to clean up the moment it happens!
