Build the discipline when it’s easy. Use the discipline when it’s tough.
When I started out blogging and got serious about what I was doing, I wrote 3 months worth of blogs. I did that so I would stay consistent online even if I didn’t stay consistent in reality. What actually happened was I built discipline by writing 40+ blogs over the course of the month. Was it easy? Of course not. But it was easy in a sense that I did not have people who depended on seeing my content on a weekly basis. Now that I know people expect content out of me, the pressure is on. But my discipline is already built up from writing all of those blogs the first time. On top of that expectation, my 9-5 work has piled up and I’m just tired. However I still manage to get it done because I have the momentum of discipline behind me. Discipline is your friend. Build it when it’s easy, and use it when it’s tough.
