December: The Month of Foundation

This past month and upcoming month have really caused me to focus on some foundational aspects of my business.

I've created a new website, updated my consulting services, and changed my target market.

WOW. WOW. WOW.

Sometimes we remain stuck in what we are doing because we have spent so much time in it. You see it in corporations when managers make the mistake of holding on to a project that should have been cut long ago.

There is a great quote by Alexander Graham Bell that says,

"When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

This is an important concept to grasp because it teaches us the importance of letting go of the old and getting to the new. It's emotional when you see all your hard work seemingly go to waste. I want you to take the time to remember that this is all about growth and learning, so do not become discouraged over redirection in disguised.

As I personally let go of some things that I put some very hard work into, I now focus my efforts on rebuilding.

Another one of my favorite quotes from the famous poem If by Rudyard Kipling says,

"If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss

And lose and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss"

So if there are some foundations you have to reapply before the New Year, do it with a positive attitude and with high spirits. You are not alone and you are on the right path!
